Untitled is an Instagram client with no feed. It presupposes Instagram the medium, distilling down to only publishing and curation, for people who treat their account as a portfolio and their photographs as work. Four pipelines carry singles, carousels, video, and Stories to the Graph API, and a Share Extension lets a post begin anywhere a photo exists. Around them, the interface keeps quiet: the app's character is concentrated in what it makes. Every photograph is read completely, down to the Photographic Style it was shot in (recovered by reverse-engineering Apple's undocumented maker notes and adjustment data), and accompanied by a metadata card: camera, lens, weather, the hour of its light, typeset in Parnaso on a thin sheet of tilt-driven Washi. The card transpired to be the whole product.
The stamp system is the magic with this one. Each photograph is read for where and when it truly was: coordinates checked against a hand-curated atlas of roughly eight hundred landmarks across thirty-five cities, each with its own radius; MapKit reverse geocoding and point-of-interest categories; historical weather recovered for the minute of capture; solar elevation sorted into first light, golden hour, blue hour, dusk; the phase of the moon after dark; a calendar of micro-seasons turning underneath the year. Whatever proves true condenses into a few stamps at the foot of the card, and none of it asks the photographer anything. Its behavior is fixed by five thousand unit tests that together simulate a year of photographs, from ramen on a rainy night to a meteor shower from a hillside park. Moreover, it’s been a constant companion for seasons of road trips, festivals, and everydays in Moon’s studio practice.
